Project Scope & Operating Environment

The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project – Victoria’s biggest road project.

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.

In this position as Project Engineer, Mechanical – MEI | North East Link Project, you will be embedded within the project delivery team for CPB Contractors, delivering critical outcomes aligned to safety, quality, and program milestones.

Key Duties & Core Performance Deliverables

  • Deliver high-standard operational and professional performance aligned with the scope of Project Engineer, Mechanical – MEI | North East Link Project.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with package engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and commercial teams.
  • Enforce strict adherence to CPB Contractors’ ‘Safety Always’ zero-harm culture and quality frameworks.
  • Identify operational roadblocks and risk items proactively, implementing solutions to maintain program delivery.

Required Qualifications, Licences & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or industry-recognised certifications suitable for Project Engineer, Mechanical – MEI | North East Link Project.
  • Demonstrated experience in major infrastructure, civil engineering, or heavy commercial construction.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional team collaboration capabilities.
  • Current Australian working rights and commitment to workplace safety.
