Pilbara Minerals is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated Trainer & Assessor (Mid-Stream Operations) to join the team in Pilgangoora, Pilbara, WA, Australia. Operating on a 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, this role reports directly to the Process Manager and is responsible for delivering high-standard operational deliverables that underpin safe, continuous production.

Based at the world-class Pilgangoora lithium operation—the largest independent hard-rock lithium deposit globally—you will be an essential contributor to fixed plant reliability, mobile equipment availability, and metallurgical processing excellence powering the international battery and electric vehicle markets.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Chemical Plant Training Needs Analysis: Conduct Training Needs Analyses for new and existing personnel, identifying competency gaps and recommending training requirements aligned to operational and safety-critical activities.
• Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Development: Design, develop and review site-specific training materials, assessments, Safe Work Instructions and operational documentation in consultation with subject matter experts.
• Practical Operational Competency Assessments: Deliver training and Verification of Competency assessments for processing, mechanical and electrical teams, supporting consistent competency-based learning across the operation.
• Verification of Competency (VOC) Audits: Preserve and service accurate and auditable training records, competency matrices and authorisation data, ensuring compliance information is current and readily available.
• Training Record Governance in LMS: Partner with supervisors and the Learning and Development team to plan, schedule and track training delivery, proactively addressing overdue competencies and emerging skill gaps.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Pilbara Minerals, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 / TAE40122) & Relevant Mining Trade
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 4+ Years of verified operational mining or industrial experience in Australia.
• Current TAE40116 or TAE40122: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, supported by relevant operational, technical or trade experience in a mining, processing or heavy industry environment.
• Processing Plant Operational Background: Demonstrated experience delivering competency-based training and Verification of Competency assessments for operational or maintenance teams.
• High Technical Writing Standards: Strong understanding of safety-critical work activities, risk management practices and HSE requirements within high-risk operational environments.
• Engaging Facilitation & Mentorship: Ability to develop, review and improve training materials, assessments, Safe Work Instructions and operational procedures in consultation with subject matter experts.
• FIFO Medical & Police Clearance: Confident using training, competency and records management systems, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, auditable documentation.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$145,000 – AU$170,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%). (Salary structure is not officially stated by the employer; this represents the general industry standard for this position in Western Australia.)
