In this high-profile role, you will craft the public narrative around Australia’s largest 5G mobile network, renewable energy investments, and cybersecurity initiatives, acting as a key media spokesperson and crisis strategist.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

  • Devise and: Devise and execute national PR campaigns positioning Telstra as Australia’s leading technology innovator.
  • Manage daily: Manage daily media relations, pitch proactive news stories, and coordinate responses for national journalists.
  • Provide strategic: Provide strategic crisis communications and issue management during operational disruptions or regulatory reviews.
  • Write high-impact: Write high-impact speeches, thought leadership op-eds, and presentations for Group Executives.
  • Measure earned: Measure earned media effectiveness, sentiment analysis, and share of voice (SOV).

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Telstra, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

  • Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
  • Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications.
  • 6+ years experience in corporate PR, journalism, or tech media relations.
  • Established relationships with Australian business and technology news editors.
  • Calm, decisive leadership and flawless writing ability under deadline pressure.
