Pilbara Minerals is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated HD Fitter (Heavy Diesel Mechanic) to join the team in Pilgangoora, Pilbara, WA, Australia. Operating on a 8/6, 7/7 (Days & Nights) FIFO from Perth, this role reports directly to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for delivering high-standard operational deliverables that underpin safe, continuous production.

Based at the world-class Pilgangoora lithium operation—the largest independent hard-rock lithium deposit globally—you will be an essential contributor to fixed plant reliability, mobile equipment availability, and metallurgical processing excellence powering the international battery and electric vehicle markets.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Heavy Mobile Plant Servicing: Verify and maintain that that works being performed is done in a safe manner, and in line with company OHandS standards.
• Hydraulic & Powertrain Diagnostics: Inspect, service, maintain and repair mobile plant for which you are trained and authorised for, within manufacturer’s specifications, limitations and in accordance with site procedures and instructions.
• Planned Component Replacement (PCR): Work collectively as part of the HME team to ensure safe, efficient and prompt inspections, servicing, maintenance and repair of equipment, adhere to schedules and plans, and actively participate in achievement of targets.
• Pit Breakdown Mechanical Support: Attend work during rostered periods and comply with PLS Fitness for Work policies.
• Pronto Maintenance Administration: Communicate with the Mobile Maintenance Workshop Supervisor on day-to-day activities.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Pilbara Minerals, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Australian Heavy Commercial Vehicle / Mobile Plant Mechanical Trade Certificate (Cert III)
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3 – 5 Years of verified operational mining or industrial experience in Australia.
• Australian Heavy Mechanical Trade: Education: Relevant nationally recognised trade qualification.
• Heavy Mining Fleet Background: Certificates: High Risk Work Licences (desirable).
• CAT & Komatsu Diagnostic Tools: Licences: Current and Valid Driver’s Licence.
• High Risk Work Licences: Minimum 2 years post trade mine site exposure and experience in completing maintenance across a variety of MEM equipment (CAT, Epiroc).
• Safety & Housekeeping Excellence: Strong commitment to Safety Culture.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$150,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%). (Salary structure is not officially stated by the employer; this represents the general industry standard for this position in Western Australia.)
