Fortescue is appointing a Senior Metallurgist at Cloudbreak Ore Processing Facility to optimize crushing, screening, and desliming plants.

Fortescue Metals Group is seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead process optimization at our Cloudbreak ore processing facility in the Chichester Hub.

As a key member of the team at Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) in Chichester Hub, WA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Monitor and: Monitor and optimize wet and dry ore processing plants to achieve yield and grade specifications.
• Conduct plant: Conduct plant metallurgical sampling, mass balancing, and diagnostic metallurgical testwork.
• Troubleshoot plant: Troubleshoot plant bottlenecks across cone crushers, vibrating screens, and cyclones.
• Lead process: Lead process continuous improvement projects to reduce water and energy consumption.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years metallurgical experience in iron ore or hard rock mineral processing.
• Strong analytical abilities in plant data analysis and statistical process control.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$150,000 – AU$185,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Package $150,000 – $185,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
• Balanced 8:6 FIFO roster with return flights from Perth.
