Calculate protection relay settings, short-circuit calculations, and arc flash safety studies for generators and grid batteries.

CS Energy is seeking a Senior High Voltage Protection & Settings Engineer based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. You will perform fault current studies, calculate secondary protection settings for SEL and Schneider relays, and ensure robust protection coordination across thermal power stations, solar farms, and grid-scale battery systems.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Perform complex: Perform complex fault analysis, relay coordination, and protection settings calculations using CAPE or Aspen OneLiner.
• Develop settings: Develop settings files for generator protection, line differential, distance, and transformer protection relays.
• Conduct arc: Conduct arc flash hazard assessments and calculate incident energy levels compliant with IEEE 1584.
• Investigate power: Investigate power system trips, disturbance recorder events, and relay operation event reports.
• Interface with: Interface with Powerlink Queensland to align interconnection protection criteria.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at CS Energy, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering & CPEng / RPEQ.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Power).
• 6+ years experience in high voltage protection engineering with utilities, generators, or consultancies.
• RPEQ registration or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
• Deep proficiency in CAPE, Aspen OneLiner, or ETAP.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$148,000 – AU$182,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Competitive salary $148,000 – $182,000 + 12.75% super.
