Virgin Australia is hiring a Flight Operations Duty Manager to take charge of daily flight operations at the Virgin Australia Village in Bowen Hills, Brisbane. Leading a multidisciplinary team of flight dispatchers, crew controllers, and customer service leads, you will make dynamic network recovery decisions during severe weather, airport closures, and air traffic control constraints to protect passenger connections.

As a key member of the team at Virgin Australia in Brisbane, QLD, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Direct 24/7: Direct 24/7 network flight execution across more than 400 daily domestic and international flights.
• Lead tactical: Lead tactical response to irregular operations (IROPS), slot management, and severe weather diversions.
• Authorize aircraft: Authorize aircraft swaps, ferry flights, and delay mitigation plans to maintain network on-time performance (OTP).
• Coordinate with: Coordinate with Airservices Australia, airport authorities, and ground handling partners during disruptions.
• Ensure all: Ensure all operations comply with CASA Part 121 regulations, flight duty limitations, and safety management systems.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Virgin Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Aviation Management or Commercial Pilot License (CPL/ATPL) / Flight Dispatcher accreditation.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 6+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 6+ years of operational flight dispatch, airline operations control (IOC), or airline network management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Australian airspace management, CASA flight regulations, and NOTAM interpretations.
• Exceptional decision-making ability under intense time-sensitive operational pressure.
• Aviation degree, Flight Dispatcher license, or Commercial Pilot License preferred.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$170,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $140,000 – $170,000 + shift allowances + superannuation.
