Deloitte is appointing a Tax Director in Melbourne to provide strategic GST, stamp duty, and cross-border restructuring advice to corporate clients.

Deloitte’s Indirect Tax & Transfer Pricing team is seeking a high-performing Director to lead tax advisory for major corporate M&A deals and restructuring.

As a key member of the team at Deloitte Australia in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

  • Deliver strategic: Deliver strategic indirect tax advice on multi-million dollar corporate transactions.
  • Advise clients: Advise clients on complex GST classifications, state stamp duties, and customs duties.
  • Liaise and: Liaise and negotiate with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regarding private binding rulings.
  • Lead business: Lead business development initiatives and mentor a team of tax managers.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Deloitte Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

  • Mandatory Qualification: Master of Taxation, Law Degree, or CA Qualified.
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
  • 10+ years professional indirect tax advisory experience within a Big 4 firm or corporate legal practice.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Taxation, or Accounting (CA/CPA/Lawyer).
  • Proven track record of client acquisition and practice leadership.
