Originate, evaluate, and execute private equity investments and growth capital investments in Australian mid-market leaders.

Perpetual’s alternative investment team is looking for a driven Senior Private Equity Investment Associate in Sydney. You will evaluate investment opportunities, build leveraged buyout (LBO) models, coordinate commercial and financial due diligence, and partner with portfolio company management to execute 100-day value creation plans.

As a key member of the team at Perpetual Private (PE Division) in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Develop detailed: Develop detailed leveraged buyout (LBO), merger, and return sensitivity models (IRR, MoIC).
• Screen inbound: Screen inbound deal flow and conduct industry competitive landscape research.
• Manage commercial,: Manage commercial, accounting, tax, and legal due diligence advisors during transaction execution.
• Draft comprehensive: Draft comprehensive investment committee memorandums and recommendations.
• Monitor portfolio: Monitor portfolio company operational KPIs and attend board observer meetings.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Perpetual Private (PE Division), candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Commerce / Finance / Economics & CFA Preferred.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or Law with exceptional academic performance.
• 3-5 years experience in top-tier investment banking M&A, strategy consulting, or private equity.
• Advanced financial modeling abilities and commercial strategic mindset.
• Strong communication and leadership presence.

At Perpetual Private (PE Division), we understand that our people drive our achievements. An outstanding remuneration and wellbeing package is provided in line with Australian benchmarks:

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$165,000 – AU$215,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Generous base salary $165,000 – $215,000 + 11.5% super + carried interest / annual bonus.
