Lead underground geological mapping, diamond drill hole targeting, and 3D structural vein modeling at Newmont’s ultra-high-grade Tanami Gold Mine.

Newmont Australia is seeking a Senior Underground Geologist to join our Tanami Underground Gold Operations in the Northern Territory. Operating on an 8:6 FIFO roster with flights from major capital cities, you will oversee underground face mapping, plan resource definition diamond drilling programs, model high-grade quartz vein structures in Leapfrog Geo, and deliver grade control models.

As a key member of the team at Newmont Australia in Tanami, NT, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Perform detailed: Perform detailed structural and lithological mapping of active underground decline headings, stopes, and drives.
• Design, supervise,: Design, supervise, and log underground diamond drill holes for near-mine resource extension and stope definition.
• Construct implicit: Construct implicit 3D geological wireframes and domain models utilizing Leapfrog Geo and Datamine.
• Manage stope: Manage stope grade control reconciliations and collaborate with mine engineers to minimize stope dilution.
• Mentor project: Mentor project geologists and technicians in sampling QA/QC protocols and underground safety procedures.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Newmont Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Geology or Earth Science (Honours / MSc preferred).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of practical underground mining geology experience, preferably in structurally complex orogenic gold deposits.
• Expert proficiency with 3D geological modeling software (Leapfrog Geo) and mining packages (Datamine/Vulcan).
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology or Earth Science.
• AusIMM or AIG membership and ability to pass remote FIFO medical examinations.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$160,000 – AU$190,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• High salary ($160,000 – $190,000) + remote site allowances + Newmont annual bonus.
• Balanced 8:6 FIFO roster with return flights provided from Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth, or Brisbane.
