Lead preventative maintenance, component replacement strategies, and reliability for ultra-class haul trucks and hydraulic excavators.

Roy Hill is recruiting a Senior Mobile Maintenance Specialist to join our elite fleet maintenance team in the Pilbara on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth. You will drive reliability engineering and component change-out optimization for Caterpillar 797F trucks, Hitachi EX5600 excavators, and ancillary rubber-tyred fleets.

As a key member of the team at Roy Hill in Pilbara, WA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Oversee predictive: Oversee predictive maintenance strategies, fluid analysis (SOS), and oil condition monitoring.
• Plan and: Plan and execute scheduled mid-life component change-outs (engines, wheel groups, hydraulic pumps).
• Lead technical: Lead technical troubleshooting of complex electronic, hydraulic, and structural chassis faults.
• Manage Tier-1: Manage Tier-1 OEM service contracts (Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi) to maximize fleet availability.
• Drive workshop: Drive workshop safety, tooling compliance, and apprentice mentoring on site.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Roy Hill, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Mobile Plant Mechanic Trade Certificate (Cert III) or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Heavy Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
• 7+ years experience maintaining ultra-class mobile mining equipment in Australian open pits.
• Proven technical mastery of electronic diagnostic tooling (CAT ET, VIMS).
• Valid WA driver’s licence and ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$165,000 – AU$205,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $165,000 – $205,000 + 11.5% super + site FIFO allowances + annual bonuses.
• Balanced 8:6 FIFO roster with direct flights from Perth Airport.
