Direct maindeck freighter aircraft loading, automated ULD handling, and airfreight terminal operations at Sydney Airport.

Qantas Freight is seeking an experienced Senior Air Cargo Operations Manager based at our flagship freight terminal at Sydney Airport (Mascot). You will direct 24/7 airfreight ground handling, managing ramp freighter turnarounds (Airbus A321P2F and Boeing 747-8F), temperature-controlled pharmaceutical storage, and mail sortation.

As a key member of the team at Qantas Freight in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Direct air: Direct air cargo terminal operations, pallet build-up, and aircraft load control adhering to weight and balance limits.
• Ensure strict: Ensure strict compliance with CASA aviation regulations, IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR), and Dangerous Goods (DGR).
• Coordinate freighter: Coordinate freighter ramp operations with airport ground handlers, air traffic control, and aviation security.
• Manage ramp: Manage ramp safety culture ensuring zero aircraft contact incidents and rigorous tarmac FOD inspections.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with international airlines and freight forwarding partners on express transit connections.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Qantas Freight, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Aviation Management, Logistics, or equivalent Air Cargo Executive Experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Degree in Aviation Management, Logistics, or 6+ years air cargo operations leadership.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• Current IATA Dangerous Goods by Air and Air Cargo Security certifications.
• Proven leadership managing large unionized airport ground staff.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$175,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
