St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is recruiting a Renal Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our busy Department of Nephrology in Fitzroy. You will provide acute and maintenance hemodialysis treatments, manage central venous dialysis catheters, educate home peritoneal dialysis patients, and support pre-transplant workups.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Set up,: Set up, prime, and operate Fresenius 5008S and Gambro hemodialysis machines adhering to water quality standards.
• Perform complex: Perform complex arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and graft (AVG) rope-ladder and buttonhole cannulation.
• Monitor patient: Monitor patient hemodynamic stability, fluid ultrafiltration rates, and anticoagulation during 4-hour dialysis cycles.
• Train and: Train and empower patients in home peritoneal dialysis (CAPD/APD) techniques and exit-site care.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with nephrologists, renal dietitians, and vascular surgeons on vascular access maintenance.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at St Vincent’s Health Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing & AHPRA Registration & Renal Nursing Experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 2-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Current unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years hemodialysis experience with proven vascular access cannulation skills.
• Postgraduate qualification in Renal Nursing (or working towards) is highly regarded.
• Compassionate, holistic approach to caring for chronic disease patients.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$88,000 – AU$105,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Public Hospital Award salary $88,000 – $105,000 + 11.5% super + not-for-profit salary packaging.
• Predominantly day and afternoon shifts with no overnight night-shift rotations in maintenance unit.
• Central Fitzroy location with easy access to Melbourne CBD trams and culinary culture.
• Leave Entitlements: 4 weeks annual leave (with 17.5% annual leave loading where applicable) plus 10 days paid personal/carer’s leave.
