Manage multi-million dollar complex commercial property, business interruption, and industrial liability claims for Suncorp corporate clients.

Suncorp Group is hiring an experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our Major Commercial Loss team in Brisbane. You will take ownership of high-value, complex insurance claims arising from industrial fires, natural catastrophe damage, and severe business interruption, collaborating with loss adjusters, forensic accountants, and legal counsel to resolve claims equitably.

As a key member of the team at Suncorp Group in Brisbane, QLD, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Manage end-to-end: Manage end-to-end claims investigations for commercial property and business interruption losses exceeding $1M+.
• Interpret intricate: Interpret intricate policy wordings, endorsements, and coverage extensions to make defensible indemnity determinations.
• Coordinate external: Coordinate external forensic loss adjusters, structural engineers, and forensic accountants during on-site inspections.
• Manage litigation: Manage litigation and alternative dispute resolution (AFCA) proceedings in collaboration with panel legal firms.
• Authorize settlements: Authorize settlements within high financial delegation and manage accurate case reserving.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Suncorp Group, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Law, Commerce, Loss Adjusting or ANZIIF Senior Associate / Fellow qualification.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of complex commercial property or liability claims handling experience with a major insurer or adjusting firm.
• ANZIIF Senior Associate or Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) status.
• Expert understanding of commercial insurance contracts, business interruption accounting, and subrogation rights.
• Exceptional stakeholder negotiation, dispute resolution, and written communication skills.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$120,000 – AU$145,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $120,000 – $145,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
