Manage heritage estate vineyards, precision drip irrigation, and vintage harvest operations producing premium grapes for Penfolds in the Barossa Valley.

Treasury Wine Estates is seeking a Senior Vineyard Operations & Viticulture Manager to oversee our historic Barossa Valley vineyards in South Australia, including old-vine Shiraz plantings dedicated to Penfolds Grange. You will direct vineyard teams, manage precision irrigation systems, implement integrated pest management (IPM), and ensure supreme grape quality from winter pruning through vintage harvest.

As a key member of the team at Treasury Wine Estates in Barossa Valley, SA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead all: Lead all daily vineyard operational activities across multi-hundred-hectare estate vineyard holdings.
• Manage precision: Manage precision drip irrigation scheduling utilizing soil moisture probes, sap flow sensors, and weather telemetry.
• Implement organic: Implement organic and sustainable canopy management practices, frost protection, and disease prevention regimes.
• Conduct maturity: Conduct maturity sampling (Brix, pH, titratable acidity, anthocyanins) to determine optimal harvest timing with winemakers.
• Oversee mechanical: Oversee mechanical and hand harvesting operations, vineyard safety protocols, and operational operating budgets.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Treasury Wine Estates, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Viticulture, Agricultural Science, Oenology or Horticultural Management.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 6+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 6+ years of commercial viticulture management experience producing premium wine grapes in Australia.
• Degree in Viticulture, Agricultural Science, or Horticulture.
• Deep understanding of vine physiology, precision agricultural technologies, and soil health management.
• Strong frontline people leadership skills and genuine passion for world-class winemaking.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$130,000 – AU$160,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary package $130,000 – $160,000 + fully maintained company vehicle + vintage bonus.
