Curate luxury cellar releases, manage domestic and imported fine wine ranges, and negotiate premier distillery allocations for Dan Murphy’s nationally.

Endeavour Group is seeking a Fine Wine & Premium Spirits Retail Category Manager to join our Dan Murphy’s buying division in Melbourne. You will curate world-class wine and spirits ranges, partner with celebrated Australian boutique wineries and international châteaux, manage direct import programs, and drive commercial performance across Dan Murphy’s flagship Cellar Release programs.

As a key member of the team at Endeavour Group in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Curate premium: Curate premium wine, single-malt whiskey, and craft spirits assortments across retail and digital channels.
• Negotiate allocation: Negotiate allocation agreements with top Australian winemakers (Barossa, Margaret River, Yarra Valley) and European estates.
• Manage category: Manage category sales P&L, gross margin returns, promotional strategies, and inventory turn targets.
• Author engaging: Author engaging tasting notes and educational content for Dan Murphy’s Wine Merchant newsletters.
• Lead sensory: Lead sensory evaluation panels and attend international wine trade fairs (Vinitaly, Vinexpo).

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Endeavour Group, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Agribusiness or WSET Level 3 / Diploma in Wine & Spirits.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of retail wine buying, luxury beverage category management, or fine wine import experience.
• WSET Level 3 or WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits is strongly preferred.
• Commercial acumen with proven experience managing multi-million-dollar retail category P&L budgets.
• Exceptional supplier relationship management and commercial negotiation skills.

At Endeavour Group, we understand that our people drive our achievements. An outstanding remuneration and wellbeing package is provided in line with Australian benchmarks:

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$130,000 – AU$155,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Package $130,000 – $155,000 + annual incentive bonus + superannuation.
