Rio Tinto is hiring a Mine Operations Supervisor to lead autonomous haulage truck fleets and pit operations in the Pilbara.

Rio Tinto Iron Ore is looking for a Mine Operations Supervisor to direct daily open-cut production and autonomous haulage systems (AHS) in the Pilbara.

As a key member of the team at Rio Tinto in Karratha, WA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Supervise daily: Supervise daily autonomous haul truck routing, dispatching, and loading equipment.
• Monitor pit: Monitor pit production targets, haul road conditions, and equipment availability.
• Enforce strict: Enforce strict safety protocols around autonomous zones and manned interactions.
• Lead shift: Lead shift handovers, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Rio Tinto, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations or Equivalent.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Proven supervisory experience in large-scale open-cut mining operations.
• Experience working with Autonomous Haulage Systems (Komatsu FrontRunner or Cat Command).
• Hold WA Quarry Manager or statutory supervisory certifications.

At Rio Tinto, we understand that our people drive our achievements. An outstanding remuneration and wellbeing package is provided in line with Australian benchmarks:

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$145,000 – AU$175,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Base salary $145,000 – $175,000 + 11.5% super + site allowance.
• 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off FIFO roster from Perth.
• Modern mining camp accommodation with gym, pool, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
• Leave Entitlements: 4 weeks annual leave (with 17.5% annual leave loading where applicable) plus 10 days paid personal/carer’s leave.
