Build high-throughput data platforms and ETL pipelines powering candidate search algorithms and recruitment analytics at SEEK.

SEEK’s Cremorne Headquarters is seeking an experienced Senior Data Platform Engineer. You will design, build, and maintain petabyte-scale data infrastructure that ingests, models, and distributes billions of user interactions, enabling data scientists to build industry-leading matching algorithms and market insights.

As a key member of the team at SEEK in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Design and: Design and scale streaming and batch data pipelines using Apache Spark, Python, and Apache Kafka.
• Build analytics: Build analytics models and clean data marts in Snowflake using dbt (data build tool).
• Manage workflow: Manage workflow orchestration and scheduling using Apache Airflow and AWS Step Functions.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with AI researchers to deliver low-latency feature stores for real-time recommendation engines.
• Enforce data: Enforce data governance, schema evolution, and automated data quality checks.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at SEEK, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics or related quantitative field.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of commercial experience in data engineering and distributed computing frameworks (Spark, PySpark).
• Demonstrated expertise with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
• Advanced SQL scripting and production Python programming skills.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$160,000 – AU$190,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Competitive compensation ($160,000 – $190,000) + annual bonus scheme.
