Healius Pathology is hiring a Histopathology Scientist in Macquarie Park to perform tissue grossing assistance, microtomy, and IHC staining.

Healius Pathology is seeking a skilled Histopathology Scientist to join our diagnostic anatomical pathology laboratory in Macquarie Park. You will be responsible for tissue embedding, precision microtomy, routine H&E staining, and automated immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Perform precision: Perform precision microtomy cutting thin paraffin tissue sections at 3-4 microns without artifacts.
• Operate automated: Operate automated tissue processors, embedding stations, and cover-slipping instruments.
• Execute special: Execute special histochemical stains and automated immunohistochemistry protocols.
• Maintain meticulous: Maintain meticulous specimen labeling, block tracking, and quality assurance records.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Healius Pathology, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Science / Medical Science (Pathology).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 2-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor of Medical Science, Laboratory Science, or related pathology degree.
• Minimum 2 years commercial diagnostic histopathology laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated microtomy sectioning speed, accuracy, and manual dexterity.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$82,000 – AU$96,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Competitive salary $82,000 – $96,000 + 11.5% super + shift allowances.
• Continuous technical training in digital pathology slide scanning.
• Macquarie Park technology corridor location close to Metro train station.
• Leave Entitlements: 4 weeks annual leave (with 17.5% annual leave loading where applicable) plus 10 days paid personal/carer’s leave.
