Lead hospital-wide infection surveillance, outbreak prevention protocols, and antimicrobial stewardship across acute healthcare facilities.

Epworth Freemasons is looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) in Infection Prevention & Control based in East Melbourne. You will drive hospital surveillance programs, audit sterilization and aseptic procedures, manage infectious outbreak responses, and ensure compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standard 3.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Direct healthcare-associated: Direct healthcare-associated infection (HAI) surveillance, surgical site infection audits, and central-line bloodstream rates.
• Lead hospital: Lead hospital outbreak response teams for respiratory pathogens, gastroenteritis, and multidrug-resistant organisms (MRO).
• Coordinate National: Coordinate National Hand Hygiene Initiative (NHHI) compliance audits and aseptic non-touch technique (ANTT) education.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with infectious diseases physicians on hospital antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) initiatives.
• Advise hospital: Advise hospital engineering and redevelopment teams on negative-pressure ventilation and sterile air filtration.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Epworth HealthCare, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing & Postgraduate Qualification in Infection Control & ACIPC Member.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Current unconditional registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention and Control or Public Health.
• Minimum 5 years clinical nursing experience with at least 3 years in hospital IPC.
• Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) credentialing is highly regarded.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$118,000 – AU$136,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $118,000 – $136,000 + 11.5% super + full salary packaging benefits.
• Prime East Melbourne parkland location opposite Fitzroy Gardens with tram stops outside.
• Autonomous clinical specialist role reporting to the Director of Clinical Governance.
