Lead electrical apprentice training, solar PV/battery certification programs, and educational delivery as Head of Faculty at TAFE NSW Ultimo.

TAFE NSW is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Faculty for Electrotechnology & Clean Energy Transitions at our flagship Ultimo campus in Sydney. You will manage a large team of electrical trade teachers, oversee educational delivery for thousands of apprentice electricians, drive new micro-credentials in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and electric vehicle charging, and maintain strict ASQA compliance.

As a key member of the team at TAFE NSW in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead educational: Lead educational delivery and operations for Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and post-trade renewable credentials.
• Oversee faculty: Oversee faculty teaching staff recruitment, professional development, and educational quality compliance (ASQA Standards).
• Forge strategic: Forge strategic training partnerships with major clean energy employers, electrical contractors (NECA), and energy network operators.
• Manage state-of-the-art: Manage state-of-the-art training workshops, high-voltage switching simulators, and solar PV training arrays.
• Manage faculty: Manage faculty operational budgets, resource utilization, and student graduation retention rates.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at TAFE NSW, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Australian Electrical License (A-Grade) + Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116/TAE40122) + Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Renewable Engineering.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 7+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Current Australian Electrical Work License (A-Grade Electrician).
• Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122).
• 7+ years combined electrical industry and vocational education (VET) management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership capability managing large educational teams and driving student-centred trade excellence.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$165,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Package $140,000 – $165,000 + public sector superannuation benefits + generous leave provisions.
