TAFE Queensland is seeking a Lead Vocational Training Manager to helm our electrotechnology and clean energy department at the Bohle Trades Training Centre in Townsville. In this vital role, you will lead a team of electrical educators training apprentices in industrial wiring, automation, solar PV installation, and battery energy storage.

As a key member of the team at TAFE Queensland in Townsville, QLD, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead teaching: Lead teaching operations and ASQA compliance for UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.
• Implement training: Implement training programs in grid-connect solar and battery storage conforming to Clean Energy Council (CEC) standards.
• Manage workshop: Manage workshop facilities, high-voltage test benches, and compliance with AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules.
• Coordinate apprentice: Coordinate apprentice progress tracking with major regional energy and mining employers.
• Ensure safety: Ensure safety auditing and lockout-tagout (LOTO) protocols are rigorously enforced in all training bays.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at TAFE Queensland, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Licensed Electrician (A-Grade) & TAE40116/TAE40122 & Clean Energy Council (CEC) Accreditation.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Current Electrical Fitter/Mechanic (A-Grade) Electrical Licence.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122).
• Minimum 5 years electrical trade experience with exposure to solar or renewable systems.
• Hold or eligible for Clean Energy Council installer accreditation.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$115,000 – AU$138,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $115,000 – $138,000 + 12.75% super + 9 weeks paid vacation leave per annum.
