Navigating enterprise relationships with Global Fortune 500 corporations, government entities, and strategic multinational partners requires deep consultative acumen and commercial governance. Microsoft’s Strategic Account and Partner Success teams curate bespoke multi-year digital transformation agendas, orchestrate cross-cloud deployment frameworks, and foster co-innovation alliances. Professionals in this specialization combine strong computer science fundamentals with practical, real-world systems engineering. Whether delivering distributed microservices, designing custom silicon interconnects, managing physical datacenter infrastructure, or scaling AI-powered customer workflows, you will operate within a mature engineering ecosystem supported by Microsoft’s global technical community.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
In this capacity, your daily priorities and core technical contributions will center on the following key operational deliverables:
- Brings impactful industry insights into customer engagements and closes deals with customers. Acts as a thought leader across solution areas to advise customers across business functions on digital transformation. Leads virtual transformational shifts to drive deployment and create business value for customers. May lead partner integration into account/territory planning and customer engagements. Provides thought leadership.
- Orchestrates with team members on conducting personal campaigns to discover new opportunities and generate new leads. Leads conversations with strategic/high-potential customers (e.g., high budget, global account, highly competitive) along with account teams or partners. Facilitates the account team unit (ATU) and/or Specialist Team Unit (STU) to build pipeline in collaboration with partners and services. Guides others on social selling. Applies Microsoft’s sales process to determine the quality of the opportunity and whether to proceed and educate the customers on how to best address their needs.
- Leads the planning and execution on opportunities with resources and partners to cross-sell and up-sell. Identifies, leverages, and coordinates partners and resources across solution areas. Validates partner solution relevance for customers. Provides input and feedback to Global Partner Solutions (GPS) on developing partner strategies and connects the partner ecosystems to scale business results.
- Leads the sales orchestration with internal stakeholders and partners (e.g., Enterprise Operating Unit). Applies a holistic approach to build network across territories. Positions opportunities to promote collaboration and participation.
- Requires a 200 level technical knowledge and has completed or is pursuing completion of Azure 900 level certifications
- Builds and transforms new markets by leveraging technical and industry knowledge, partners, and resources. Leads a team to explore business and emerging opportunities to optimize the portfolio and facilitate customer innovation.
- 9+ years technology-related sales or account management experience
- Maintain rigorous code quality, comprehensive automated test coverage, and security compliance throughout all phases of software delivery.
- Participate actively in technical design reviews, operational post-mortems, and architectural discussions across global engineering cohorts.
Candidate Profile & Experience Requirements
Candidates for the Cloud & AI Platform Sales Specialist position are evaluated based on their practical experience, technical depth, and demonstrated track record of problem-solving:
- Professional Background: Minimum of 6 years (72 months) of verified experience directly relevant to solution area specialists or related technical specializations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Information Security, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technology-related sales or account management OR equivalent experience.
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or related field AND 8+ years technology-related sales or account management experience
- o OR Master’s Degree in Business Administration (i.e., MBA), Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years technology-related sales or account management experience.
- Technical Competence: Demonstrated mastery of programming environments, distributed systems, modern cloud infrastructure, or specialized analytical methodologies relevant to the domain.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an established ability to articulate complex technical architectures clearly to engineering peers and executive stakeholders.
