Deliver innovative structural engineering designs for iconic commercial towers and sustainable civic landmarks in Melbourne.

Arup’s Melbourne building structures practice is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the conceptual and detailed design of high-rise commercial developments and complex urban redevelopments. You will collaborate with leading Australian architects and developers to push the boundaries of low-carbon timber and high-strength concrete design.

As a key member of the team at Arup Australia in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Execute finite: Execute finite element modeling, dynamic wind analysis, and seismic simulations using ETABS and Strand7.
• Lead structural: Lead structural design packages from masterplanning concept through to construction documentation.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with architects to integrate embodied carbon reduction and circular economy materials.
• Conduct structural: Conduct structural site inspections and verify compliance with Australian Building Codes (NCC/BCA).
• Mentor graduate: Mentor graduate and intermediate engineers toward their Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) credentials.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Arup Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural) & CPEng / NER Status.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 7+ years consulting experience in structural building design within Australia.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia and registered on NER.
• Deep proficiency in Australian Standards (AS 3600, AS 4100, AS 1170).

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$145,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Competitive salary $145,000 – $180,000 + 11.5% super + global profit-share scheme.
