WSP Australia is seeking an accomplished Principal Acoustic & Vibration Engineering Consultant to join our Acoustics group in Sydney. You will lead acoustic engineering for complex mega-projects including underground metro rail lines, high-specification performing arts centres, teaching hospitals, and major highway tunnels, resolving challenging noise and vibration criteria.

As a key member of the team at WSP Australia in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead environmental: Lead environmental transportation noise and ground-borne vibration impact assessments for state significant infrastructure.
• Perform advanced: Perform advanced 3D acoustic propagation modeling utilizing SoundPLAN, CadnaA, and Odeon room acoustic simulation software.
• Design architectural: Design architectural sound insulation, floating floors, mechanical plant attenuation, and reverberation control treatments.
• Conduct unattended: Conduct unattended long-term baseline noise logging and specialized vibration monitoring near sensitive medical/laboratory equipment.
• Represent clients: Represent clients as an expert witness at the NSW Land and Environment Court on acoustic matters.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at WSP Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Acoustic Engineering or Audio/Acoustic Technology.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 7+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 7+ years of professional acoustic and vibration consulting experience in Australia.
• Member of the Australian Acoustical Society (MAAS) or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
• Mastery of environmental noise regulations (NSW Noise Policy for Industry, Transport for NSW guidelines).
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Acoustics.

At WSP Australia, we understand that our people drive our achievements. An outstanding remuneration and wellbeing package is provided in line with Australian benchmarks:

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$155,000 – AU$185,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $155,000 – $185,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
