Job Overview & Organization Mission
Provide independent assurance to the Westpac Board Audit Committee by leading complex financial crime, sanctions, and regulatory compliance audits.
Westpac Group is looking for an experienced Senior Internal Audit Manager to join our Group Audit division in Sydney. You will lead high-impact audit reviews across Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions screening, Fraud risk management, and APRA prudential standards, evaluating control design effectiveness and presenting findings directly to senior executive committees.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities
In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:
- Lead end-to-end: Lead end-to-end planning, fieldwork, and reporting for complex financial crime and regulatory audits.
- Assess operational: Assess operational control effectiveness against AUSTRAC requirements and APRA Prudential Standards.
- Utilize data: Utilize data analytics tools to interrogate entire transactional populations and identify control anomalies.
- Draft clear,: Draft clear, objective audit reports articulating root causes, systemic risks, and agreed management action plans.
- Present audit: Present audit results to General Managers, Chief Risk Officers, and Board Sub-Committees.
Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience
To be successful in this position at Westpac Group, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:
- Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Accounting, Law, or Finance + Professional Certification (CIA, CA, CPA, or CAMS).
- Relevant Experience: Minimum 7+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
- 7+ years of internal audit, risk assurance, or regulatory compliance experience in banking or Big 4 consulting.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CA/CPA, or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
- Deep knowledge of Australian financial regulatory frameworks (AML/CTF Act, Privacy Act, APRA CPS 220).
- Superb stakeholder management, critical thinking, and written synthesis capabilities.

- Competitive Remuneration: AU$160,000 – AU$195,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
- Remuneration $160,000 – $195,000 + short-term incentive banking bonus.
