QBE Insurance Group is hiring a Reinsurance Operations & Treaty Accounting Specialist for our Global Outward Reinsurance division in Sydney. You will manage the technical administration of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance treaties, calculate catastrophic event recoveries, and maintain compliance with IFRS 17 reinsurance accounting standards.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

  • Administer outward: Administer outward reinsurance treaty programs across property, casualty, and marine insurance lines.
  • Prepare and: Prepare and reconcile complex quarterly reinsurance accounts, premium adjustments, and loss bordereaux.
  • Calculate and: Calculate and submit catastrophic loss recoveries following major bushfire, flood, and cyclone events.
  • Support IFRS: Support IFRS 17 reinsurance asset modeling and financial reporting disclosures.
  • Liaise with: Liaise with international reinsurance brokers (Guy Carpenter, Aon Re) and global reinsurers (Swiss Re, Munich Re).

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at QBE Insurance, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

  • Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Actuarial Science (CA / CPA preferred).
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 4+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
  • 4+ years of reinsurance accounting, treaty administration, or insurance finance experience.
  • Solid understanding of proportional (Quota Share) and non-proportional (Excess of Loss) reinsurance structures.
  • Familiarity with IFRS 17 insurance accounting standards and insurance ERP systems.
  • Strong numerical aptitude, spreadsheet modeling, and analytical problem-solving skills.
