Key Duties & Core Responsibilities
In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:
- Assess, underwrite,: Assess, underwrite, and price complex commercial property risks including high-value office towers, industrial logistics, and manufacturing plants.
- Negotiate policy: Negotiate policy terms, exclusions, deductible structures, and reinsurance treaty placements with international brokerages (Aon, Marsh, WTW).
- Review risk: Review risk engineering inspection reports and collaborate with clients to implement risk improvement warranties.
- Maintain strong: Maintain strong portfolio profitability, monitoring loss ratios, rate adequacy, and catastrophic exposure limits.
- Mentor junior: Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to national commercial underwriting guidelines.
Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience
To be successful in this position at QBE Insurance, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:
- Mandatory Qualification: Tertiary degree in Business, Commerce or ANZIIF Senior Associate / Fellow qualification.
- Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
- 5+ years of dedicated commercial property underwriting experience in the Australian or Lloyd’s insurance markets.
- Demonstrated experience handling large underwriting authorities ($25M+ limits).
- ANZIIF Senior Associate CIP or equivalent recognized insurance industry qualification.
- Exceptional broker relationship management, negotiation, and analytical decision-making skills.
