Optimize heavy-haul train timetables, locomotive consist assignments, and track path allocations to maximize port coal export throughput.

Aurizon is recruiting a Senior Bulk Commodity Rail Freight Scheduler at our Fortitude Valley headquarters in Brisbane. You will be responsible for planning and executing train schedules across the Central Queensland Coal Network (CQCN), matching mine load-out capacity with Gladstone and Hay Point port export terminals while eliminating vessel demurrage.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Formulate 7-day: Formulate 7-day tactical and 4-week look-ahead train master schedules across multi-user rail corridors.
• Optimize locomotive: Optimize locomotive and wagon consist allocations minimizing turnaround cycle times.
• Coordinate scheduled: Coordinate scheduled rail network track maintenance closures with Queensland Rail and Aurizon Network.
• Resolve unexpected: Resolve unexpected network disruptions, track blockages, and locomotive breakdowns in real time.
• Interface with: Interface with mining company logistics superintendents and port terminal operators.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Aurizon, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics, Engineering, or Transport Logistics.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Degree in Supply Chain, Transport Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• 4+ years train planning, rail freight scheduling, or complex transport network optimization experience.
• Advanced analytical software skills with railway timetable modeling tools.
• Calm problem-solving acumen under operational disruption scenarios.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$125,000 – AU$155,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $125,000 – $155,000 + 11.5% super + annual performance bonus.
