QBE Insurance is seeking a Senior Actuarial Pricing Manager to lead the personal and commercial lines pricing analytics team in Sydney. In this senior technical role, you will develop predictive loss cost models, analyze weather catastrophe risks, and optimize premium rate structures using Emblem and Radar.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

  • Develop generalized: Develop generalized linear models (GLM) and gradient boosting machine learning models for insurance frequency and severity.
  • Calibrate dynamic: Calibrate dynamic price elasticity curves and competitor rate benchmarks in Willis Towers Watson Radar.
  • Monitor portfolio: Monitor portfolio loss ratios, claims development trends, and inflation impacts across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Liaise with: Liaise with underwriting heads to implement target technical pricing updates.
  • Mentor actuarial: Mentor actuarial analysts toward completion of their FIAA qualifications.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at QBE Insurance, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

  • Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Actuarial Studies & Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA).
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
  • Degree in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) or equivalent international actuarial body.
  • 6+ years actuarial pricing experience in general insurance.
  • Expertise in Emblem, Radar, Python, and R.
