Ensure mechanical integrity, vibration condition monitoring, and major overhaul management for gas turbine generators.

AGL Energy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Torrens Island Power Station in South Australia. You will lead plant reliability engineering for aeroderivative and heavy-frame gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), and high-pressure steam turbines providing critical synchronous grid firming.

As a key member of the team at AGL Energy in Adelaide, SA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead technical: Lead technical scoping and contractor management for major gas turbine hot gas path overhauls.
• Perform root: Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on rotating machinery, bearings, pumps, and valves.
• Interpret vibration: Interpret vibration spectral data, lube oil analysis, and acoustic thermography reports.
• Ensure statutory: Ensure statutory compliance of pressure vessels and high-energy piping under AS 1200 and AS 3788.
• Support technical: Support technical integration of hybrid battery storage systems on the power station precinct.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at AGL Energy, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering & CPEng Registration.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years experience in heavy industrial mechanical engineering (power station, refinery, or mining).
• Deep technical familiarity with gas turbine systems (GE, Siemens, or Mitsubishi).
• CPEng chartered registration with Engineers Australia.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$145,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $145,000 – $180,000 + 11.5% super + site allowance.
