Lead systems engineering assurance, RAMS compliance, and safety case development for multi-billion dollar rail networks.

John Holland is seeking a Senior Safety & Systems Assurance Manager to lead technical assurance across major rail network expansions in Victoria. You will oversee RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) engineering and prepare formal safety cases for rail safety regulators under EN 50126 and the Rail Safety National Law.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead safety: Lead safety assurance processes across rail signalling, track, overhead traction power, and rollingstock.
• Author comprehensive: Author comprehensive Safety Cases and Hazard Logs adhering to CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).
• Facilitate safety: Facilitate safety hazard identification workshops (HAZID, HAZOP, and FMECA).
• Interface with: Interface with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) and franchise rail operators.
• Provide technical: Provide technical governance ensuring zero safety gaps between civil construction and train operational readiness.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at John Holland, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering & Certified Systems Engineering Professional.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or Civil).
• 8+ years experience in systems assurance within the Australian or international rail sector.
• Mastery of CENELEC standards and Australian rail accreditation frameworks.
• Exceptional stakeholder negotiation skills across government transport agencies.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$190,000 – AU$235,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Executive salary package $190,000 – $235,000 + super + project incentives.
