Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Freight Train Drivers in Central Queensland to operate heavy-haul bulk freight trains.

Aurizon is recruiting qualified Freight Train Drivers based in Rockhampton to operate heavy diesel and electric locomotives hauling bulk freight across Central Queensland.

As a key member of the team at Aurizon in Rockhampton, QLD, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Safely operate: Safely operate multi-locomotive heavy haul freight trains up to 10,000 gross tonnes.
• Conduct pre-departure: Conduct pre-departure mechanical inspections, brake tests, and radio checks.
• Strictly observe: Strictly observe rail signaling, network safe-working rules, and speed restrictions.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with network train controllers and shunting personnel.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Aurizon, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Certificate IV in Train Driving (TLI42615/TLI42621).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Certificate IV in Train Driving (or equivalent rail driving qualification).
• Demonstrated experience operating mainline freight locomotives in Australia.
• Current Category 1 Rail Medical clearance.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$125,000 – AU$155,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• High earning package $125,000 – $155,000 + overtime + 11.5% super.
