Sonic Healthcare Central Laboratory in Richmond is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist to conduct diagnostic bacteriology and PCR.

Sonic Healthcare is expanding its central diagnostic pathology team in Richmond, performing microbiological specimen examination and molecular viral detection.

As a key member of the team at Sonic Healthcare in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Perform microbiological: Perform microbiological culture examination, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Operate, calibrate,: Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot automated laboratory diagnostic analyzers.
• Conduct molecular: Conduct molecular diagnostic assays including Real-Time RT-PCR.
• Evaluate and: Evaluate and report critical diagnostic results to referring medical specialists.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Sonic Healthcare, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (AIMS Accredited).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 2-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science eligible for full AIMS membership.
• Demonstrated experience in a diagnostic clinical microbiology laboratory in Australia.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NATA / ISO 15189 accreditation standards.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$82,000 – AU$98,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Base salary of $82,000 – $98,000 + 11.5% super + shift allowances.
