DHL Express Australia is hiring an Airside Gateway Cargo Operations Manager for our major international gateway facility at Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). You will direct 24/7 airside ramp operations, high-speed automated parcel sortation lines, customs bonded warehouse compliance, and dedicated Boeing 767/777 freighter aircraft turnarounds, driving world-class on-time service delivery.

As a key member of the team at DHL Express Australia in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Direct 24/7: Direct 24/7 airside gateway cargo processing, container build-up, and ramp aircraft loading.
• Manage dedicated: Manage dedicated international express freighter turnarounds to ensure on-time flight departures.
• Oversee high-speed: Oversee high-speed x-ray security screening under the Aviation Transport Security Act (Regulated Air Cargo Agent).
• Maintain compliance: Maintain compliance across Section 77G customs bonded warehouse areas and biosecurity inspection zones.
• Lead and: Lead and inspire a large operational team of ramp handlers, sortation supervisors, and customs operators.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at DHL Express Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Aviation Logistics, International Transport or equivalent operations experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 6+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 6+ years of operational management experience in air cargo, express logistics, or airport ground handling.
• Deep understanding of aviation security standards, ramp safety protocols, and customs bonded regulations.
• Hold or be eligible to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• Strong people leadership capability, inspiring safety, speed, and precision in 24/7 shift environments.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$165,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $140,000 – $165,000 + annual bonus + superannuation.
