Deputy in Sydney is hiring a Senior Go Backend Engineer to develop algorithmic shift scheduling and labor compliance calculation engines.

Deputy is looking for a Senior Go Backend Engineer to join our Core Scheduling & Rostering engineering team in Sydney. You will solve complex combinatorial scheduling optimization problems and Fair Work Modern Award compliance algorithms powering millions of shifts every week.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Design and: Design and build scalable backend microservices in Go (Golang) handling high-throughput shift scheduling.
• Implement algorithmic: Implement algorithmic optimization for automated roster generation considering labor awards and availability.
• Optimize MySQL: Optimize MySQL / Amazon Aurora database queries and caching layers with Redis.
• Participate in: Participate in agile sprint ceremonies, technical RFC design discussions, and system observability.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Deputy, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years backend software development experience with strong proficiency in Go (Golang).
• Demonstrated experience designing high-throughput RESTful or gRPC APIs.
• Strong understanding of relational database modeling, transactions, and indexing.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$155,000 – AU$190,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $155,000 – $190,000 + employee equity options + superannuation.
