NEXTDC is appointing a Lead Facility Operations Engineer in Fortitude Valley to maintain 100% uptime across Tier IV hyperscale electrical and cooling systems.

NEXTDC is seeking an experienced Lead Data Centre Facility Operations Engineer for our flagship B2 facility in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. You will ensure 100% continuous operational uptime for mission-critical HV power distribution, rotary UPS systems, and chilled water cooling infrastructure.

As a key member of the team at NEXTDC in Brisbane, QLD, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Supervise daily: Supervise daily operations and planned maintenance for high-voltage transformers, switchboards, and generators.
• Monitor Building: Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and DCIM telemetry to optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
• Direct emergency: Direct emergency switching procedures during utility grid power interruptions without service downtime.
• Coordinate client: Coordinate client server rack installations and manage specialized critical facility contractors.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at NEXTDC, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or CDCP Certified.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years critical facility operations experience in data centres, hospitals, or semiconductor plants.
• Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification or engineering degree (CDCP/CDFOM highly regarded).
• Deep understanding of Uptime Institute Tier III/IV standards and critical power topologies.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$170,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary package $140,000 – $170,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
