CommBank India is seeking a high-caliber Staff Software Engineer to spearhead full-stack architecture and engineering delivery within our flagship Bangalore technology centre. You will lead cross-functional squads building secure, scalable cloud microservices and responsive web applications, leveraging modern full-stack frameworks and generative AI developer tooling.

Core Responsibilities & Role Scope

In this position at Commonwealth Bank, your operational deliverables and core performance objectives include:

• Full-Stack Architecture & Design: Architect, design, and deliver enterprise-grade full-stack solutions using C#, .NET Core, Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
• API & Microservices Engineering: Build high-performance, secure, and resilient RESTful/gRPC APIs running on containerized cloud infrastructure.
• Cloud & DevSecOps Leadership: Drive cloud-native deployment patterns on AWS/Azure utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, and automated CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions and TeamCity.
• AI-Accelerated Engineering: Champion the adoption of GenAI developer tools including GitHub Copilot, Cline, Roo Code, and AWS Bedrock to uplift squad productivity.
• Technical Mentorship: Guide, mentor, and coach senior engineers, driving rigorous code review standards, test automation, and architectural governance.

Selection Criteria & Candidate Profile

CommBank evaluates candidates against demonstrated capabilities aligned with the requisition scope:

• Full-Stack Mastery: 10–14 years of commercial experience in full-stack engineering with deep expertise in C#, .NET Core, Next.js/React.js, TypeScript, and Python.
• Cloud & Containers: Proven hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud environments, Docker containers, and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Modern CI/CD & AI Tooling: Demonstrated background with CI/CD automation and experience incorporating GenAI engineering tools (GitHub Copilot, AWS Bedrock).
• Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science or Information Technology.
