Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) is seeking an experienced Pharmaceutical Science & Formulation Laboratory Manager to lead laboratory operations at our Parkville biomedical campus in Melbourne. You will oversee state-of-the-art drug formulation facilities, supervise analytical instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS/MS, dissolution testers), enforce laboratory biosafety, and support novel drug delivery spin-outs.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Direct daily: Direct daily operations, equipment maintenance, and user access for multi-user pharmaceutical research laboratories.
• Maintain precision: Maintain precision analytical instruments (Agilent/Waters HPLC, mass spectrometers, particle sizers, rheometers).
• Ensure strict: Ensure strict compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), TGA guidelines, OGTR gene technology, and chemical waste management.
• Train and: Train and certify postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and industry partners on specialized formulation equipment.
• Manage laboratory: Manage laboratory operational procurement, service maintenance contracts, and safety risk assessments (SOPs/SWMS).

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Monash University, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (PhD / MSc preferred).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 6+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 6+ years of laboratory management or senior formulation scientist experience in pharmaceutical industry or academic research.
• Deep technical proficiency with analytical chemistry instruments and drug delivery formulation techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety standards (AS/NZS 2243) and hazardous chemical handling.
• Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$130,000 – AU$155,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $130,000 – $155,000 + 17% superannuation contributions.
