The University of Melbourne is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Level C) in AI & Machine Learning to teach and conduct world-class research.

The School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne is appointing a Senior Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.

As a key member of the team at University of Melbourne in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Deliver high-quality: Deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in machine learning and deep neural networks.
• Publish cutting-edge: Publish cutting-edge research in top-tier conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, AAAI).
• Secure competitive: Secure competitive external research funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC).
• Supervise PhD: Supervise PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and Masters research students.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at University of Melbourne, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or closely related discipline.
• Outstanding track record of peer-reviewed research publications in premier AI venues.
• Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching and curriculum development.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$135,000 – AU$160,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Academic salary (Level C) $135,000 – $160,000 plus 17% superannuation contribution.
