Role Overview & Project Scope
Laing O’Rourke is currently seeking applications for the position of Construction Director. As a $6 billion privately owned global engineering and manufacturing-led construction leader, Laing O’Rourke delivers some of Australia’s most complex and iconic infrastructure projects across defence, transport, rail, health, water, and utilities.
This role forms an essential part of Laing O’Rourke’s major capital delivery capabilities, driving certainty of delivery, safety culture, and industry-leading standards.
Core Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
In this role at Laing O’Rourke, your key responsibilities and deliverables will include:
- Contributeto the achievement of Laing O’Rourke safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe and un-environmentally conscious working practices and occurrences.
- Providesupport to the Project Director to ensure client expectations are managed. This will include establishment of a project brief, understanding the development drivers, establishing a cost plan to meet agreed budget, risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Developan overall design procurement strategy to ensure consultants selected truly understand the key project drivers.
- Overseecost planning as required to develop an overall cost plan for the project and develop the design in accordance with the project budget.
Selection Criteria & Candidate Profile
Laing O’Rourke evaluates applicants against demonstrated technical capabilities and experience aligned with this role:
- Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or Construction Management or equivalent.
- Understanding of design, problem-solving capabilities, commercial acumen.
- Ability to communicate on all levels – directors to operatives.
- Lead by example in health and safety and attitude.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
