TPG Telecom is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to join our 5G Network Operations team in Melbourne. You will build high-resolution observability pipelines, automate failure recovery, conduct chaos engineering experiments, and eliminate latency spikes across cloud-native mobile core components supporting millions of active mobile subscribers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Build and: Build and scale distributed monitoring and alerting systems utilizing Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana.
• Optimize Linux: Optimize Linux kernel network parameters (sysctl, TCP windowing, eBPF) for ultra-low latency packet forwarding.
• Develop automated: Develop automated self-healing scripts and incident mitigation tools using Python and Go.
• Conduct chaos: Conduct chaos engineering drills to uncover single points of failure in distributed telco microservices.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with network architects to establish realistic Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and SLO targets.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at TPG Telecom, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 4+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 4+ years of practical Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps experience in high-volume, 24/7 environments.
• Deep understanding of Linux systems internals, TCP/IP networking, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with Kubernetes container orchestration and cloud-native observability tooling.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Bash.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$170,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
