Architect and lead the implementation of modern Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) and GitOps Kubernetes delivery for premier enterprise clients at Versent.

Versent is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to spearhead our Platform Engineering and GitOps consultancy practice in Sydney. You will design next-generation developer platforms using AWS EKS, ArgoCD, Crossplane, and Terraform that empower engineering teams to deploy microservices safely, rapidly, and autonomously.

As a key member of the team at Versent in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Architect enterprise-grade: Architect enterprise-grade Kubernetes platforms on AWS (EKS) with automated scaling and multi-tenancy controls.
• Implement declarative: Implement declarative GitOps delivery pipelines using ArgoCD and automated helm/kustomize releases.
• Build developer: Build developer self-service capabilities (Backstage / Internal Developer Platforms) reducing cognitive load.
• Establish automated: Establish automated security compliance gates (Kyverno/OPA Gatekeeper) across container lifecycles.
• Lead and: Lead and mentor consulting platform engineers and present architectural solutions to client leadership.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Versent, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering + CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 7+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 7+ years in systems engineering, DevOps, or software engineering with extensive platform engineering experience.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
• Expertise in GitOps tooling (ArgoCD or Flux) and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication, consulting presence, and technical leadership ability.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$175,000 – AU$210,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
