Protect Australian enterprise and government networks against intrusions by analyzing security telemetry in a 24/7 sovereign SOC environment.

Macquarie Telecom Group is seeking an experienced Level 2 SOC Analyst to join our Sydney Security Operations Center. You will monitor security alerts generated across government and enterprise client infrastructures, analyze anomalous network traffic, investigate phishing campaigns, and coordinate containment actions with our frontline engineering teams.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Triage, investigate,: Triage, investigate, and escalate security incidents using Microsoft Sentinel and Splunk SIEM platforms.
• Perform in-depth: Perform in-depth log analysis across firewalls, authentication servers, proxies, and endpoint telemetry.
• Investigate email: Investigate email security alerts, analyze malicious attachments in sandboxes, and purge targeted phishing attacks.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with client security contacts to advise on containment measures and post-incident hygiene.
• Develop and: Develop and refine detection logic and correlation rules to reduce false-positive alert fatigue.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Macquarie Telecom Group, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Networks or industry certifications (Security+, CySA+, BTL1).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 analyst.
• Strong understanding of the cyber kill chain, MITRE ATT&CK framework, and common network protocols.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Endpoint, or similar enterprise SIEM/EDR tools.
• Australian Citizenship (mandatory due to government client security requirements).

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$115,000 – AU$140,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $115,000 – $140,000 + shift allowances + superannuation.
