Automate, configure, and maintain enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server fleets and mission-critical clustering architectures at Datacom.

Datacom is looking for an experienced Senior Linux Systems & Automation Engineer to join our Managed Services team in Southbank, Melbourne. You will drive fleet-wide automation, patch management, and high-availability clustering across thousands of enterprise Linux instances supporting healthcare, finance, and logistics clients.

As a key member of the team at Datacom Australia in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Architect and: Architect and automate configuration management across Red Hat Enterprise Linux fleets using Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Manage enterprise: Manage enterprise package distribution, errata patching, and lifecycle staging using Red Hat Satellite.
• Deploy and: Deploy and troubleshoot high-availability clustering using Pacemaker, Corosync, and shared storage (iSCSI/SAN).
• Develop custom: Develop custom automation scripts in Python and Bash to eliminate repetitive operational toil.
• Perform root: Perform root cause analysis on system crashes, memory leaks, and kernel panic events.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Datacom Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of dedicated Linux systems administration experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent demonstrated practical expertise.
• Extensive experience writing production Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflows.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, storage multipathing, and kernel tuning.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$140,000 – AU$165,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Attractive salary ($140,000 – $165,000) + superannuation + on-call rewards.
• Southbank Melbourne office location with flexible 2-3 days work from home model.
