Build and automate high-security sovereign container platforms and GitOps CI/CD deployment pipelines for Australian Federal Government agencies.

Datacom is seeking an experienced DevOps Platform Engineer with active Australian Government NV1 security clearance to join our Canberra team. You will automate the provisioning of secure, multi-tenant container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift) and continuous integration pipelines complying with stringent ASD Essential Eight and ISM controls.

As a key member of the team at Datacom Australia in Canberra, ACT, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Design, deploy,: Design, deploy, and manage production Kubernetes clusters using automated Terraform and GitOps (Flux/ArgoCD).
• Construct hardened: Construct hardened CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and GitHub Enterprise with automated SAST and container vulnerability scanning.
• Implement infrastructure: Implement infrastructure configuration management and OS hardening utilizing Ansible and Packer.
• Establish observability: Establish observability stacks featuring Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry in air-gapped environments.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with security assessors to achieve system authorization under the Australian Government Protective Security Framework (PSPF).

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Datacom Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Current active Australian Government NV1 (Negative Vetting 1) security clearance.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud platform automation, and Linux administration.
• Strong competency with Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or Go) and declarative configuration tooling.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$155,000 – AU$185,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• High salary ($155,000 – $185,000) + clearance bonus + superannuation.
