Xero is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Invoicing & Payments team in Melbourne. You will build world-class user interfaces that make complex financial reconciliation feel effortless for small business owners, bookkeepers, and accountants across Australia and around the globe.

As a key member of the team at Xero Australia in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Develop modular,: Develop modular, maintainable UI components using React, TypeScript, and modern component design libraries.
• Optimize frontend: Optimize frontend performance, Core Web Vitals, and time-to-interactive for data-intensive web apps.
• Ensure full: Ensure full accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA) across screen readers and keyboard navigation.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate GraphQL and RESTful APIs seamlessly.
• Advocate for: Advocate for testing best practices using Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright end-to-end testing.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Xero Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of dedicated web frontend development experience with modern JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Deep understanding of browser rendering engines, state management architectures, and web performance tuning.
• Passion for building accessible web applications and creating intuitive user experiences.
• Experience working in fast-paced product engineering teams following agile rituals.

At Xero Australia, we understand that our people drive our achievements. An outstanding remuneration and wellbeing package is provided in line with Australian benchmarks:

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$150,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $150,000 – $180,000 + employee share purchase scheme + KiwiSaver/Superannuation match.
