Melbourne Grammar School is seeking an exceptional educator to serve as Head of Primary at Grimwade House in Caulfield. In this prominent leadership role, you will guide the educational journey of co-educational Prep to Year 6 students, championing evidence-based structured literacy (Science of Reading), inquiry learning, and pastoral wellbeing.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead primary: Lead primary teaching pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment frameworks across Prep-Year 6.
• Embed evidence-based: Embed evidence-based phonics, synthetic spelling, and numeracy problem-solving methodologies.
• Direct student: Direct student pastoral care, emotional resilience initiatives, and restorative behaviour guidance.
• Manage primary: Manage primary faculty recruitment, professional appraisals, and teacher mentoring programs.
• Maintain close,: Maintain close, positive partnerships with parents, hosting educational forums and parent information evenings.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Melbourne Grammar School, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Master of Education / Primary Pedagogy & VIT / NESA Registration.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Master of Education, Primary Teaching, or Educational Administration.
• Current unconditional registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
• Demonstrated executive leadership experience within a high-performing primary school.
• Deep pedagogical expertise in early childhood development and the Science of Reading.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$150,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Executive salary package $150,000 – $180,000 + 11.5% super + leadership allowances.
