AustralianSuper is seeking a Senior Quantitative Portfolio Analyst to join our internal Global Equities investment team in Melbourne. You will formulate systematic factor models, analyze market microstructure data, and optimize multi-billion dollar active equity portfolios to generate long-term net returns for fund members.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

  • Research, backtest,: Research, backtest, and deploy systematic factor alpha models (value, momentum, quality, low volatility).
  • Perform multi-factor: Perform multi-factor risk attribution and style drift analysis using Barra / Axioma risk models.
  • Build automated: Build automated data pipelines and feature engineering scripts in Python, Pandas, and SQL.
  • Optimize portfolio: Optimize portfolio rebalancing trade lists minimizing market impact and transaction slippage.
  • Collaborate with: Collaborate with fundamental portfolio managers to integrate quantitative screens into investment processes.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at AustralianSuper, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

  • Mandatory Qualification: Master of Quantitative Finance, Financial Mathematics, or PhD & CFA.
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
  • Postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years quantitative equity research or portfolio management experience within an asset manager or hedge fund.
  • Expert programming proficiency in Python, NumPy, and SQL.
  • CFA charter or progress toward designation is highly regarded.
