Lead building services commissioning, BMS integration, and thermal tuning to deliver seamless operational asset handovers.

Downer Group is seeking an experienced Lead Commissioning Manager to oversee testing, commissioning, and handover management for major hospital, commercial, and correctional facility projects across Queensland. You will direct subcontractors, integrate BMS telemetry, and validate Green Star and NABERS energy ratings.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Formulate overarching: Formulate overarching Commissioning Plans, verification matrices, and integrated systems test (IST) protocols.
• Coordinate testing: Coordinate testing and balancing (TAB) of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, and generator systems.
• Direct BMS/SCADA: Direct BMS/SCADA interface testing and automated fault detection sequences.
• Manage environmental: Manage environmental commissioning and 12-month building tuning toward targeted NABERS ratings.
• Interface with: Interface with client facility management teams to deliver comprehensive O&M manuals and training.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Downer Group, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Engineering Degree or Trade Diploma with extensive building services commissioning experience.
• 7+ years leading commissioning on major commercial or institutional facilities ($50M+).
• Deep technical understanding of HVAC controls, BMS protocols (BACnet/Modbus), and electrical protection.
• Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) accreditation is highly advantageous.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$165,000 – AU$205,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration $165,000 – $205,000 + 11.5% super + company vehicle allowance.
